Another French-origin breed cattle that we house, Limousin, evolved into a breed of unusual sturdiness, health, and adaptability. Considered as the best breed for steaks by many people – from top chefs and butchers to the humble meat-lover – Limousin are not the largest or heaviest cattle in the world, but they are prized for other qualities. The meat from these cattle is extremely popular among chefs and connoisseurs as it is delicate, has a low proportion of bone and fat (when reared appropriately) and is finely marbled. And, thanks to its strong flavors, the demand for Limousin cattle has grown rapidly since its introduction to the UK in the early 1970s.

Firstly, the cattle will be imported from Australia and Thailand at the weight of around 420kg. When cattle first arrive at feedlots, they are fed with locally grown grains and grass, consisting primarily of cereal grain and Napier Grass. With the goal of maximizing cattle growth, the target weight for slaughtering will be around 550kg. This feedlot production system typically takes about 60 days until the cattle reach a prescribed finish before being slaughtered and the average yield of the meat will be around 60%. Then, the cattle will be slaughtered at a Halal certified abattoir where the meat produced will then be sold to the market (supermarket, restaurant chains, government-linked company etc.).
